At Team Excel, our elite coaching staff brings 30+ years of experience in competitive ski racing, athlete development, and high-performance training. Our coaches are dedicated to helping each athlete refine their technique, master tactical race strategies, and build confidence on and off the slopes.
With small group sizes and personalized instruction, our approach ensures focused, individualized feedback to maximize progress. Through gate training, video analysis, and targeted skill development, we help racers of all levels push their limits while keeping the experience fun and engaging.

Gus DeMaggio, Camp Director
Head Coach and Alpine Program Director at Bretton Woods Ski Resort, Gus DeMaggio has been Director of Team Excel Ski Camp since 1993. Prior to Bretton Woods, Gus was the Head Coach of Kimball Union Academy race program for four years, Cardigan Mountain School Team for seven years, and prior to that the Director of the Loon Mountain Ski Team for eight years. He developed and directed an international private race academy, Team Excel Ski Academy, which placed five athletes on the British and Romanian national teams. Gus has lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe.
Miki Fera, Assistant Camp Director
A native of Romania, Miki Fera was a member of the Romanian National Ski Team for ten years, and competed in three Olympic games, three University Games and three World Championships. She ended her racing career in 1998 as the Women's Giant Slalom World Pro Champion. Currently Miki is the Technical Program Director at Bretton Woods. Prior to Bretton Woods Miki was the Technical Director and Ski Coach at Kimball Union Academy and Cardigan Mountain School, Miki has been coaching young athletes of all abilities since 1998.
Alex Barbu, Alpine Coach
Current head coach of the Romanian National Team, former member of the Romanian National Team, Alex raced on the World Cup circuit. He was honored to represent his country in the Sochi Olympics in February 2014, where he posted a best result of 21st in the Men's Slalom. In 2015 he raced in the World Alpine Ski Championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Alex also competed in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. Alex was a Team Excel athlete, coached by Coach DeMaggio and Fera as a youth racer in the 90's. He is excited to join Team Excel to coach for his 11th year.
Taylor Cudhea, Alpine Coach
Taylor is a 5-year coaching veteran for Bretton Woods Race Team, she is currently coaching at the U16/19 level. She grew up in Thetford, VT. Taylor started skiing as a young child, then joined/skied with FSA/KUA. Taylor pursued a Bachelor Degree in Nursing at Saint Anselm College and continued her ski career with Saint A’s in the USCSA division. She found success in college and helped her team to compete at Nationals twice. Taylor was All-American in GS during her senior season. Taylor now works as a traveling nurse and coaches skiing through the winter.
Conor Hart, Alpine Coach
Conor grew up ski racing at Franconia Ski Club in Franconia, NH. He is currently a USSA coach at Bretton Woods Ski Resort and has coached all age ranges of athletes (U10s - U19s) over the past 9 years. Conor has a passion for skiing, teaching and coaching. His ability to incorporate laughter and fun into high level coaching resonates well with athletes of all ages and abilities. Outside of skiing, Conor enjoys golfing and spending time with friends and family.
